A certain theme party had us mulling over our favorite books from childhood.  And we have to say, The Story of Ferdinand was our number one pick for read-out-loud.

The simple, neat illustrations make us smile and the story has a soothing message.  Ferdinand is just a bull who would rather sit under the shade of his cork tree and smell the flowers that fight ferociously in la corrida de toros in Madrid.

And we’re dreaming about la Côte d’Azur.  It looks like paradise, n’est pas?  When dashboard tell us it’s -2 we start dreaming about our favorite sundress, the smell of the ocean, and pistachio gelato.  What gets you through the Minnesotan winters?
